DMB Welcomes First Solar to Eastmark

On March 17th, First Solar, Inc. (Nasdaq: FSLR) announced its plan to acquire approximately 135 acres within the Eastmark for the first phase of its next solar module fabrication plant. To meet their demand for solar cells around the world, they began construction in second quarter of 2011 and anticipate opening their facility in early 2012.

This plant will bring high-quality, clean-tech jobs to the Southeast Valley. More than 500 workers will be employed over the next 12 months during construction. The manufacturing facility will create approximately 600 new clean-technology jobs for the region in its first phase.

First Solar, a global leader in renewable energy, is headquartered in Tempe, Arizona, and operates manufacturing plants around the world. Its focus is on driving down manufacturing costs of solar and photovoltaic systems to make solar power more economically viable.
